This is my end of year writing test. I enjoyed the interesting topic, the debate on whether video games were bad or good. I also enjoyed putting nintendo references inside of this test. Next time I do the writing test, I would like to improve with my spelling and my vocabulary, here is my writing test:
Kids love video games, that a true fact. Some parents say that video games adhere kids eyes to a screen. I disagree to the parents statements as I think that video games are great for people. There are many reasons why video games are good.
When kids are unable to meet each other, either because of countries or distance, are able to play against or with their friends. This is because of the internet. Nintendo of Japan has stated in an interview that when kids are playing games with each other, even if they are not together, the start to build trust in the other person. Video games help people socialise when their not together.
Some games, such as ‘snipperclips’, apart from being technological advancements, help kids with their problem solving skills. In the game ‘Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild’, there are problem solving rooms, or ‘Shrines’ that use the players problem solving skills to achieve a goal. Nintendo of America has stated that players of the game ‘snipperclips’ develop their problem solving skill, and teamwork. Problem solving is in almost every video game.
Video games are fun. There is absolutely no doubt about it, even the developers of games agree. If we took video games away from people, they would not enjoy life as much. Shigeru Miyamoto , creator of mario and other iconic video game mascots, has said “If a video game isn’t fun, it isn’t worth shipping, so all games should be fun”. Lots of people enjoy video games.
People enjoy video games, either because they love playing solo, or with a friend. Video games develop problem solving skills. So let's keep video games in peoples hands, and not take them away so as they grow up, they will always have something to do. Iwata has famously said, “On my business card I am the president of nintendo, In my mind I am a game developer, but in my heart I am a gamer.”
